Project 1: Respire Sano, Vive Feliz
Ruben Cadena
Inspired by Studio Number One’s project “Non Toxic Revolution.”
When i first began this project i knew i wanted to make a health awareness poster for a specific audience in Mexico because there are some things that just bother me when i’m walking down the streets there. The audience i chose were kids, why kids? well because kids in mexico, only have to say to the clerk in stores “i need to buy a pack of cigarettes for my dad” and they can buy them. These are stores that are owned by families and businesses that people start on there own, places like supermarkets wont let them buy them. But the issue here is that, a lot of people live away from cities and live in small towns and in most cases people wont travel distances to buy the groceries and their pack of cigars when they can get them from there local store.
In this poster, i tried to think of ways i could make my audience think about the message. not only by the illustration but by using a message that would make the person wonder if the child is Really breathing healthy? and living happy?
it was overall very fun creating the illustration. I got to know more about the software and more about other toxic issues. Non Toxic Revolution actually made me realize that yes, we as consumers we just buy things and don’t consider the harmful effects it does to us and our environment. Small things like deodorants, perfume, lipstick, plastic, etc. form part of a huge list there is that we use and buy.
